Basic variants of airships for capability 25/50 tons

Characteristics can be specified in the course of designing.

  • maximum range of flight (85 km/h) (without refueling) (payload = 0) = 5800 km;
  • maximum range of flight with refueling (hover regime) and full payload = unlimited;
  • payload cabin = 20*10*5 m

Such cargo version looks the most suitable for the first phase of the project. Evaluation of recovery of the first stage of the project looks satisfactory. Such a "truck" can cost to operate successfully and in industrial areas and in areas cross-country. Can run on any delivery of goods, including bulky and heavy. With a virtually unlimited non-landing range, can operate under any weather conditions in any season, in any region of the Planet. Cargo traffic may in the short and medium term, prove to be quite large.

Naturally, such a cargo airship is out of competition in the delivery of goods in the absence of roads and landing areas for aircrafts or helicopters. However, such air transporters will in many cases advantageous in areas with sufficient road network for delivery of oversized and heavy cargo . Heavy and medium helicopters economically less profitable cargo dirigibles in freight operations, even if the helicopter landing area near the loading and unloading there.

Another option is the use of such cargo airship - a delivery of heavy indivisible loads at a time when there is a dense network of roads. On the total cost, ships 15-25-ton block from the factory prior to installation at your workplace for installation by road will be, in many cases more expensive than the direct delivery of an airship-crane factory-site directly into the workplace for installation. One airship can transport blocks weighing up to 50 tons. Teamwork of the several airships

At first glance, looks a bit exotic, but the operation is technically simple. To perform this operation two or three airships are joined to one big load on the external suspension. Coupling airships operate synchronously under the control of the main dirigible. Carrying capacity of the coupling airships is summed up. If airships are refueling from the ground at hover, non-landing range is practically unlimited. A passenger airship

The passenger version of the airship is technically quite feasible. The ship will be quite comfortable, as it has a low level of engine noise, and a large passenger cabin. However, from an economic point of view it is very difficult to imagine a passenger version. Profitable passenger lines for an airship, to put it mildly, we must still search. On short lines (100-500 km) the airship loses both to the helicopter, and the plane, both the bus, and a train, and river crafts. On average and distant lines (500-5000 km) the passenger airship loses to the plane. Two segments of the market of "almost passenger" transportations where the potential for an airship looks sufficient are more low designated.

One more segment of the transport market are sea ferries. This variant is considered in the passenger-and-freight.

A general purpose airship

The passenger-and-freight variant is simply cargo dirigible balloon to which, for the account of a part of capability, have in addition suspended a passenger cabin. Such variant of an airship also provides high comfort for passengers. The variant when the passenger-and-freight dirigible balloon takes 10 tons of cargo and 30 passengers on range of 400 km and back can take away as much, looks claimed. Possible segment of the transport market are sea ferries. Here now with traditional водоизмещающими courts high-speed boats successfully compete to dynamic ways of support. Airships-ferries can compete to high-speed classes of ship.

The range is interesting to airships - sea ferries 100 - 1000 km. On smaller range they will be superseded by traditional and high-speed boats. On big range - big cruise liners-ferries. In this range sea ferries on courts serving them can be divided into three segments. These are carfloats, large cruise passanger-and-car ferries and high-speed passanger-and-car ferries. To carfloats and large cruise ferries it is not competed. We consider high-speed boats with dynamic ways of support. Mainly, it is boats on an air cushion (La Manche) and hydrofoils (). It is possible to compete to high-speed ferries. Advantages and comparable parametres such (for the device of a discussed class of capability of 25/50 tons):

  • 5-10 automobile motor vehicles (or the bus) and 40-50 persons;
  • speed in two-three times above, than at traditional courts, same, as at high-speed courts;
  • does not occupy berthing constructions in ports, but can fly up and land from a docks area or nearby, using a land passenger infrastructure of port;
  • can make ferry flights not only between ports, but also between any cities on different coast of passage or a gulf;
  • it is tolerant to ice conditions;
  • it is tolerant to storm conditions;
  • high level of comfort and convenience of loading and unloading;
  • high operative mobility, simplicity of a transfer at fluctuation of volumes of passenger traffic;
  • the airships are not highly specialised ferries and can be used for a wide range of the general commitments on land and on sea, as the maintenance airships;
  • provide also a high regularity of flights (by allweather capability) and high flexibility in the organisation of the traffic (for the account of high operative mobility);

Work as ferries can as specialised (with the raised comfort) airships-ferries, and routine general purpouse airships (boat of suply), without completions. (все варианты)
